Gerard Adelman has been practicing family law since 1982. He has represented parties in dissolutions, parents in custody disputes and has a statewide reputation as an effective advocate for children acting either as a Guardian ad litem (GAL) or as the Attorney for the Minor Child.

Attorney Adelman is an experienced mediator and a member of the Connecticut Council of Divorce Mediators And Family Dispute Resolution as well as a skillful Collaborative Attorney. He is a member of the Collaborative Attorneys of Greater New Haven and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) in addition to Divorce Solutions of Connecticut.

Attorney Adelman is one of the original Special Masters for the Regional Family Trial Docket in Middletown. In that capacity he assists parties resolve complex custody issues without the need for a trial. He also serves as a Special Master for more limited conflicts in the Judicial Districts of New Haven, Middletown and Meriden.

The collaborative process is truly a better way to dissolve marriages and decide custody arrangements. It affords more control to the parents and serves as the most appropriate role modeling for the children to see their parents work out issues in mature negotiation.
